“Friends” Was The Best 1990s Sitcom: Here Are Eight Reasons Why

The hit sitcom Friends may have aired its last episode a long time ago, but it is far from being forgotten. The fact that the show continues to be quoted and memefied online more than a decade later speaks volumes about its cultural legacy. The show’s hilarious jokes, one-liners, plot lines, and depiction of friendships and romance are simply unforgettable. Here are eight reasons why we think Friends was the best ‘90s sitcoms.

1. It’s so relatable

Aside from showing the gang getting into all sorts of crazy situations, Friends also has its share of relatable moments – from going on awful dates and experiencing bad breakups to getting a new job. We wouldn’t be surprised if there’s at least one episode that made you say, “Hey, that’s me!”

2. Chandler and Monica’s relationship is adorable

Relationships take time and plenty of commitment, and Chandler and Monica’s relationship is proof of that. Despite facing many challenges, they stayed together until the very end. We think that’s amazing.

3. The show’s theme song rocks

Whenever “I’ll Be There For You” by The Rembrandts comes on, we all get this sudden urge to sing along. All that’s missing for a complete Friends experience is a fountain, a couch, and a few colorful umbrellas!

4. There are so many great quotes and one-liners

Friends have so many funny quotes and one-liners that people still remember to this day. “Pivot,” “we were on a break,” and “unagi” are just a few of them!

5. So many celebrity cameos

From Brad Pitt to Susan Sarandon, George Clooney, and Julia Roberts, Friends has a long list of celebrity guest stars! One of the best things about watching this show was seeing your favorite celebrity make a surprise appearance.

6. It made the most unlikely of friendships happen

Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Ross, and Chandler may come from different backgrounds, but Friends showed that they could still be the best of friends! This show taught us all an important lesson: it’s perfectly okay to have friends who are different than you.

7. It taught us to embrace our flaws

While we all have our own flaws, Friends taught us to embrace them. Ross, for example, may have had three failed marriages, but everything still worked out for him in the end. All it took was a bit of positivity!

8. It just doesn’t get old

Even though we’ve seen all the episodes so many times, the gang’s jokes and silly antics never fail to make us laugh. We’ll never get sick of them!
