Arguably one of the most brilliant shows the television industry has ever produced, Boy Meets World will always hold a special place in my heart. As a certified ‘90s kid, every word that comes out of my mouth is basically a reflection of my education from this popular show. I grew up with these characters whose stories inspired me to become a better version of myself. I know I may sound a tad weird, but hey, if you also happen to be attached to one of the best shows of the decade, you’ll probably understand why I am obsessed with Boy Meets World.
Reality check: there’s a new show Girl Meets World, and the majority of the original cast has made guest appearances. While it’s a great TV series, especially for young girls, I wouldn’t trade it for Boy Meets World, and here are six reasons why.
Cory and Topanga’s relationship is hands down the most inspiring love story I have witnessed. They are the cutest couple with the right mix of sweetness, kindness, and humor.
Heartbreaking episode: Angela walks out and Shawn says goodbye after telling her it wasn't a farewell. Reminiscing on that sad episode, I’m ready to burst into a crying bucket now. These two are best friends with Cory and Topanga that’s why they are special to me, too.
Remember that time when we first met Jack, Shawn's rich half-brother with a kind heart? And when they went to college, Jack transformed into a certified hottie with a big ego? My favorite evolution.
It’s about that one specific call Eric did anytime he felt the urge to talk to Mr. Feeny. Whenever this duo joined forces, you knew to expect something as epic as it was heartwarming.
One of the show’s most memorable episodes was when Cory, Eric, Jack, Angela, Topanga, Shawn, and Rachel's friendship almost came to an end over a prank war thanks to Eric’s moving words: "Lose one friend, lose all friends, lose yourself." Whenever one of the characters seemed to drift away from the others, there was always someone in their group to keep them intact and make everyone feel better.
"Life's tough, get a helmet." These are the wise words of Eric Matthews, Cory’s wild brother. His comedic humor peppered the show with happy vibes. Although he was underestimated, Eric was a lowkey genius thanks to his few wise lines.
